Greetings!
I am an Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbal Medicine practitioner successfully helping people heal and transform their lives since 2009. I treat a variety of conditions including a wide range of physical pain, neurological disorders, autoimmune conditions, mental and emotional imbalances, women’s menstrual health issues, and loss of vitality (energy and libido). I use a variety of tools and techniques to help find the best resonance for each person who entrusts me with their care. I take seriously the work of healing, but also carry a lightness of being that allows for playfulness and humor to be a part of that healing. Above all, Love is at the center of my work.
From a family filled with educators and spiritual seekers, I have a fervent drive to continue learning in order to provide the best care for people’s entire body, mind, emotions, and spiritual experience. If you are looking for relief from back pain, migraines, allergic reactions, overwhelm, fatigue, anxiety or depression, these are just a few of the issues to address with acupuncture sessions and Chinese herbal therapies. I also provide additional tools and recommendations for appropriate lifestyle changes including nutrition, movement, breathwork and meditation to nourish and support your health back into harmony.
My background and training started with a Liberal Arts education at St. John’s College, the “Great Books” program. St.John’s is a school for nerdy people who love to read and have thoughtful, critically conscious dialogues about books and the ideas that have shaped our culture. I went on to finish my undergraduate degree in Contemplative Psychology at Naropa University in Boulder, CO with a focus on Health and Healing and a minor in Religion.
My interest in the medical arts started as a teenager when I received training in the Japanese energy healing system, Reiki. Years later, I deepened my understanding of energy medicine and medical assessment by pursuing a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from AOMA: Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in Austin, Tx.
After my master’s degree graduation (and almost a year spent in Nepal!), I was guided by the joy and vibrancy I experienced with my first Qigong teacher, Master Li, and completed a one-year residency training program in Estes Park, CO. My teacher was Daoist priest and healer, Master Yun Xiang Tseng (Chen) from the Wudang Mountains in China. My training with Master Chen focused on the Daoist Arts. This further developed my understanding, practice and teaching of the internal martial arts, Tai Chi (Tai Ji) and Qigong. I also learned the medical-spiritual teachings for reading and interpreting a person’s life path using the Yi Jing system, a birth elemental assessment. This experience solidified my belief and strong emphasis on the importance of movement and meditation/mindfulness as major components to a person’s healing journey.
After the Dao House, I worked with a wonderful team in Washington, DC. treating the city tough politically savvy folks who wound up there as transplants - all of them trying to do good. After too much concrete and not enough woods, I found myself with my extended family in Fayetteville, Ar.
Once in Arkansas, I was exposed to and deeply inspired by the achievement of the MicroAcupuncture system to provide incredible results for people suffering from vision loss and potentially unnecessary blindness. I spent a year training in this cutting-edge treatment for degenerative eye diseases and hope to continue the lineage for years to come.
Eventually, the Universe nudged me to change gears and serve our Service Member Veterans exclusively at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks in both Fort Smith and Ozark, Ar. While there, I was also given the opportunity to expand services and enhance integration of the whole-person medical model in the position of Whole Health Coordinator for the entire VHSO Fayetteville VA catchment area. In this role, I continued my education and training by being certified as a Health and Wellness Coach. Outside of work, I additionally pursued certification with Wendie Colter and the Practical Path in the intensive Medical Intuition training. This certification further developed my naturally intuitive skills into a more organized approach.
Although I mostly loved being at the VA, I am stepping back into the world of private practice and excited for the new community I am a part of at Inner Light Integrative Health in Barling. I am slowly opening up my practice as I try to maintain that ever sought after state of work-life-balance. I went a little hard in the corporate VA world and now I need to take my own advice and slow things back down. Find my roots again. Share my healing touch again. I hope you come join me!
Below you will find an outrageous catalogue of my education, certifications and experiences in the realm of health and healing. If you feel yourself spinning from unfamiliar information, just brush on by and know you are in well worn hands.
I am licensed to provide Acupuncture and Related Techniques by the State of Arkansas and a certified diplomate of Oriental Medicine with the National Certification Board for Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine.
